Position OverviewWe are seeking a Lead Data Scientist with 5+ years of hands-on experience in data science and machine learning. This role requires a technically skilled professional who thrives in challenging data environments, works directly on complex modeling workflows, and leads technical efforts to ensure scalability and effectiveness across our platform. Reporting to the VP of Data Science, you will actively contribute to building and deploying machine learning solutions that address key business problems.
Key Responsibilities- Actively develop, train, and fine-tune machine learning models to predict enrollment outcomes and optimize decision-making processes.
- Perform data wrangling, preprocessing, and feature engineering on large, complex datasets.
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable pipelines for data processing, model training, and deployment.
- Identify and resolve data quality challenges, ensuring reliability and accuracy in modeling.
- Work with challenging datasets to uncover actionable insights, using creative problem-solving to overcome obstacles.
- Drive innovation by optimizing workflows, processes, and modeling techniques for better performance and efficiency.
- Collaborate with the VP of Data Science and cross-functional teams to align technical efforts with business goals.
- Communicate complex data science solutions and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required QualificationsEducation:
- UG or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
Experience:
- 5+ years of professional experience in data science, machine learning, or related fields.
- Proven success in hands-on development of machine learning models and solving complex technical problems.
Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Python and associated libraries for data manipulation and machine learning (e.g., pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow).
- Strong SQL skills for data extraction and manipulation.
- Expertise in data wrangling, working with structured and unstructured data.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Familiarity with deploying models into production environments.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting technical solutions to stakeholders.
Preferred Skills- Familiarity with DevOps tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) for deploying scalable solutions.
- Experience with higher education data, CRM systems, or enrollment management.
- Advanced data visualization skills using Tableau, Plotly, or Seaborn.
